Consumer and Industry Services (CIS) is a 1996 creation resulting from the merger of the Michigan Department of Commerce and the Michigan Department of Labor. Its mission, according to its web site, “is to support the health, safety, economic and cultural well-being of the public through services to, and regulation of the activities of organizations and individuals.” [2]
