Adam Stacey is the director of legislative affairs at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. He is a Michigander by birth and by choice having moved back here after growing up in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in upstate New York.

He brings twenty-five years of legislative staff experience to the Mackinac Center. Adam's background includes a dozen years in both the House and Senate, service on the staff of representatives, senators and leadership staff, and time spent in the House policy office, as well as House and Senate caucus services. 

Adam also brings a wealth of knowledge in how local governments operate. He served four years as a township trustee and fourteen years as a county commissioner, where he was a member of the county planning commission, the metropolitan planning organization of Greater Lansing, the community mental health authority, the area agency on aging and chaired the county’s building, human resources and finance committees.

Adam received his bachelors’ degree in political science from Michigan State University and earned a master’s degree in public administration from Western Michigan University.

He and his wife, Sara, live in Bath Township.
