Publications Overview

The Mackinac Center's publications include research, commentaries and reports on a wide range of subjects. The Center approaches public policy issues from the free-market perspective.

Publications can be found in several different ways: search, advanced search, menus, Web sites and publication types. What follows is an overview of the basic publication types.

  • Studies are detailed research publications.
  • News Releases are announcements of recent events.
  • Viewpoints are commentaries from the free market perspective.
  • Current Comments may be of any publication type, but are noteworthy because of their timeliness.
  • Free Market Moments Audio Archives are short audio files with transcriptions.
  • Periodicals are reoccurring publications such as our education and privatization reports, and e-mail newsletters.
  • Books are summaries of books that may be ordered.
  • General Interest are articles that are not specific publication types (i.e., are not studies, viewpoints, periodicals, etc.)
  • Advanced Search combines keyword searches with publication type and category restrictions.
